I wrote about guaranteed issue life insurance and health coverage in my other blog just today, when I realized that I actually have another life insurance coverage that’s included in that condo unit I’m currently paying the down-payment for. I guess because I decided on that purchase with eyes closed—while praying that I won’t regret that decision—I temporarily forgot about the matter. There are still a lot of things that I have to understand about owning a property, which I need to get a grasp soon, especially because I’m a bit dubious about my broker, or at least about how much she can help me complete everything smoothly and without much hassle. Thus far, I was told my bank loan application has been approved and all I need to do is show up to sign some forms. I’m still waiting for any bank officer to call me to confirm this, but somehow it’s taking longer than I had hoped for. It’s still about 15 months before I start paying the 80% balance, so I’m not rushing this, but should I? Wow, I really don’t know much about some important things and this has got to change soon, before I get myself into anything unpleasant because of my own negligence and/or ignorance.

I wish I have The Tennis Channel, but I don’t think local cable operators (Philippines) offer that. Mostly, I have to rely on online streaming sites to watch tennis because the sports channels my cable provider offers mostly show golf, football, racing, and other sports I don’t really follow. Well, I only watch tennis, so that’s the channel I really want. The day I find it on a network cable tester will be happy day for me. Much like when I found FOX Asia being tested and later on retained.
Tennis is actually a year-round sport but the months of January, June, July, and August/September are the most important ones since those are the months of the four Grand Slam tournaments. Unfortunately, I think Star Sports only cover Wimbledon these past few years, and sometimes the Australian Open. Now that it’s almost time for the French Open, I can only rely on my 1-Mbps internet connection, which frankly is not enough to stream matches, especially the most important ones which a lot of people watch at the same time.

I mean that literally. I need to be active active again, to move my feet and do away with this sedentary lifestyle I’ve been living for the past several months. I sound like a broken record on this one, and the fact that I’m needing the best diet pills for women, but it’s true. If only consistently writing about it can translate into any equivalent physical activity, I’d probably be having less of a problem now.
So I renewed my gym membership because the trainer told me I’m overweight. And I feel overweight, so much so that I’m now developing varicose veins in my legs and feet and every time I look at them, they give me a dreaded feeling that I don’t want to think about. I’m hoping that this time, I can make this a habit. I guess this is the downside of working from home—when you actually stay at home all the time. Thus far I like my new arrangement, so I’d do what it takes to help myself make this thing (working from home) work, and I’d start with keeping myself healthy.

If you’re looking for info on that show called “Jersey Shore,” then you wouldn’t click here. I haven’t seen an episode, much less any full trailer of that show (is it from MTV?), but I already hate it. Sorry, if that’s judgmental. I do that sometimes, and since one of my favorite shows, BONES, made fun of it I’m joining that bandwagon.
So I haven’t got the chance to watch “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” either, but I found this video of Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, and Tina Fey—those three tsk, tsk—joining in Jimmy’s parody.
Yeah, so, like, whatever.

So I bought my first book from the Kindle Store because I got really curious about this new bestseller—Please Look After Mom—from a Korean author, Kyung-Sook Shin. Then I thought to scour the ‘net if I can find some “free” downloads, and what do you know—I now have more titles than I can ever read in a year, and they’re mostly books that I actually have been dying to read. Well, that’s if I can find the time between my work schedule and my…well, work schedule. I think I’ll need some sort of a roadside assistance club; maybe I can ask someone else to read the other titles and just tell me the story, heh.
But things are looking up, since I’m already past half the pages of my current book, so if these e-books can make me read twice more than usual, then it’s more than worth the price of my reading device.

Someone called me today about a sort of tie up between my credit card company and a leading insurance provider. She was explaining to me that with just PhP650 monthly to be billed directly on my credit card, I get full disability insurance benefits and other benefits in the event of (*knock-on-wood*) death because of sickness or unexpected events. I was seriously considering her offer, but I thought already having a somehow similar coverage with other companies, it will be impractical to maintain another one. Maybe if I understand these things better, I’ll know if I’m definitely if I’m indeed being practical or if I’m passing up an excellent offer. Well, maybe I should start reading on insurance and stuff; I don’t think it could hurt, save for a few minutes of my time.

Unfortunately, I mean that literally.
Today, I went back to the city after first attending my sister’s graduation yesterday then spent the night at our family home. I almost fainted inside the cab, or at least that’s how I felt, because of the extreme afternoon heat. It felt like I was inside an infrared heater, and my sisters were complaining as well so it’s not just me.
I don’t know how long this hot weather will last, but I’m really hoping for some rains—not cyclones, please—as soon as possible. We could use some reprieve from this scorching heat.

I’ve been looking at a deals website because of their offer of 40% discount on two known brands of watches. So what you will do is to pay 6,000 PhP for a 10,000 PhP gift certificate that you can use to purchase any model of your choice. But I still feel it’s a bit steep a price. I don’t really spend much on accessories, jewelries especially, because I tend to lose them. Well, fortunately, I have kept my silver watch for about 3 years now, as it should be because it was a gift from my sister. But I need want to buy a new one, and I’ve been watching out for discounts and stuff in sites such as ed hardy jewelry. Maybe I’ll get lucky to find a cheap but beautiful watch one of these days.

Just another random thought. I feel like I haven’t experienced rain in a while (not that I’ll actually get to experience rain since I’m working at home most of the time!), except for that few minutes of heavy downpour while we were in Singapore about two weeks ago. Today I decided to work on our apartment’s rooftop again and as I look at the clear skies—and the airplanes flying by—all I can think of is that I want to travel again, locally this time. I have pretty images of the beach in my mind right now.
Then boom! I realized I am here because I am swamped with work and rather … no make that very late with my work schedule. This work thing will be my biggest foe again, not that I’m complaining, even if I don’t have an office or any equivalent to nurses uniforms to show for it.

You’ve heard about Apple fanatics – of Apple Inc. products, that is: iPod, iPhone, iMac, Mac, iPad, etc.; you’ve read about how impractical passionate they are about upgrading their tech even if the company comes up with new technology before you even get to fully pay, or make compensations for, your purchases. I have joined their legion in a way because I will swear by the beauty and functionality of the MacBook Pro, even if much better versions got released just 6 months after my purchase (drat!). I don’t intend to upgrade in the near future, but I’m looking at the iPad2 so that will add to my impracticality fascination about Apple products. My brother will feel bad because he’s been asking for ps3 bundles, and that won’t happen if I get the iPad2. I’m only glad that Globe didn’t process my iPhone4 application before I lost my money interest to acquire that one.
Now I know why fellow Apple fans told me “Welcome to the dark side” when I made my first purchase. There’s no going back.
